Demonstrations
12:30 – 2:15 Sangita Phudke
“Pastel Techniques”
See a variety of pastel techniques. There will be an emphasis on blend- ing and layering pastels to create a vibrant and cohesive composition.

Miriam Stern
“Manipulated Photographs and Monoprints”
Learn how to use the computer to manipulate photographs, create a new image, print them on artists’ paper, and change them to monoprints.

Tyrrell Masse
“You Don’t Have to be Starving to be an Artist”
Discuss marketing ideas and brainstorming that take your art to the next level...Art as Business.

3:00 – 4:45 pm Mary Jane Dodd
“Using Resin in Jewelry Design”
Learn how to make resin paddles for use in jewelry design, then use them in the creation of earrings.

Tom Wilczewski
“Watercolor Painting: Using the Right Materials and Techniques.”
The artist will describe various brushes and how to use them for vari- ous techniques, different papers and how to apply paint to them, and different palettes.

5:00 – 6:30 pm May Lee
“The Magic Brush – Handling a Chinese Painting Brush”
Create magic on permeable rice paper using Chinese brushes to create contour, gradients and other stroke effects. Become a master of these instruments.

Ron Flannery
“Luthiery as a Hobby”
View a slide show of required steps, tools, materials, and other consid- erations involved in the building of a ukulele.

Children’s Programs
Community Art
12:30 – 1:45 pm and 3:00 – 4:30 pm Hand Prints Children will trace their hands on cardboard, decorate them and write about themselves on their hands. All hands will be glued on canvas that will be displayed.
Group Story Project
Children will add their own imaginative words and ideas to a group story, which will be displayed. A facilitator will help guide the children develop their ideas.

Individual Art
1:00 – 2:45 pm and 3:00 – 4:30 pm Recycled Art Projects Using plastic bottles and caps, children will make sculptures, shakers, vases, and paperweights to take home. Demo models will be available for ideas.
2:00 – 2:45 pm Audrey Davis the African Dance Lady Audrey, along with live African drumming, will do “A Taste of Africa,” geared for for children of all ages.

Evening Programs
4:00 – 5:15 pm - Monmouth Winds
This woodwind quintet featuring members of the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, French horn) will offer light classical and other familiar tunes for young and old, plus a demonstration of the indi- vidual instruments.
6:30 – 7:30 pm - Kathryn Barnett’s School of Dance
Students from this Red Bank dance school will do solo, duo, and group perfor- mances covering Ballet, Lyrical Dance, Tap and Jazz styles.

4:00 – 5:45 pm Carol Colvin
“Mixed Media and Composition”
See two paintings being worked on from different starting points. One is experimental; the other has a definitive subject in mind.
Ken Stetz
“Painting Seascapes in Watercolor”
While the presenter executes a small seascape, learn how to paint moving water, color mixes, and layering of paint.
5:00 – 6:30 pm Jeanne Marie Casale
“Learn How to Make Your Own Chains”
The presenter will demonstrate the metalsmithing techniques of the half Per- sian chain, European chain mail, and free form chains.

“Oil Portrait from a Live Model”
Observe the procedure of creating an oil portrait of a live model.

“Watercolor: Just Have Fun With It”
Sling it, stamp with it, gel it, salt it, pour it, and print with it. Then watch the magic and smile.

“Knitting with Novelty Yarns”
See different knitting techniques and combining yarns of different textures and colors. Changing yarn techniques and self-made fringe are included.

“Quick “N” Easy Watercolor”
Create quick watercolor sketches of your memories in this hands-on demo. Bring a small watercolor sketchbook or 8” x 6” watercolor paper.
Alice Alper-Rein
“Original Texture and Design with Photopolymer Plates for Metal Clay, Polymer Clay, Ceramic Clay, and Print Media.” Create customized stamps from original artwork, photos or clip art. These flexible and reusable stamps can be used in a multitude of ways.
3:00 – 4:45 pm Art Nelson
“Fish, That’s a Relief!”
Create “story telling” relief carvings of marine life from a block of thick wood. Watch them come to life as the pieces are painted.
Teri Lindstrom
“Knit One, or Two”
Knitting uses two basic stitches to create a wide variety of different looks. Using these two basic stitches you can make a simple lace pat- tern used in lace shawls.

“Flameworking Fish and Beads”
Come see how beads are created with torch and glass. Watch as the glass is manipulated into a work of art!

Learn about soldering silver! Learn about the metal, the tools used, and tips for successful hard soldering.

Artist Jo-Ellen Trilling offers a tour of the world viewed through her funny, fantasy creations in 2 and 3-dimensions that have occupied her waking, working life.

Express your ideas on canvas using acrylic paint and brushes. Tools to shade and place highlights make the painting dimensional and exaggerate or subdue color.

“Assembling a Wire Worked Bracelet”
Learn how to create a wire-worked dangle bracelet made of sterling and Thai silver, freshwater pearls, gemstones, and Swarovski crystals.

Learn about silk production and painting on the fabric. Pick up a brush and let the dye “become one” with the silk!
